Culture – One of the way Zurich display
its culture to the world is through their tradition
festival. These festivals are usually parade that
flow through the city centre with floats, tradition
costume dressing, fireworks etc. Some of the festivals
are Sechseläuten (Zürich’s spring
festival), Lichterschwimmen (before Christmas), Fasnacht
(Zürich’s Carnival) and Festspiele (Zürich’s
annual festival of opera, theatre, art and music).
And on the theatre front, Zurich Opera house is responsible
for displaying world class standard performance.

German 65%, French 18%, Italian 10%, Romansch 1%,
other 6%
Language
Switzerland has four official languages-German, French,
Italian, and Romansch. In Zurich, the local language
is a dialect of German called Swiss German which is
different from the German spoken in Germany. English
is widely spoken among the Swiss in the cities, particularly
at hotels and restaurants. In fact, most of the younger
generation do speak as it is taught as a 2nd language
in school.
Religion
Roman Catholic and Protestant are the 2 main religion
groups as their respective churches can be found everywhere
in the city. The other minor religions are Judaism
and Islam.
